If you are planning to start the Santiago Route from Tres Cantos, you will walk along a beautiful path surrounded by oak trees and lush vegetation which will take you to Segovia, Coca, Valladolid and Medina de Rioseco.
The Central Park of Tres Cantos is the biggest park of the city and we highly recommend you to visit it during your stay in the city. It also has a beautiful artificial lake, popularly called the "Swan Lake" in which inhabit various species of fishes and from where you can watch the traditional fireworks during the San Juan festival.
One of the main attractions of the Central Park is the Theme Garden, with a mixture of 12 different garden types, such as rose gardens, palm trees, grasses, vines, bamboos, conifers, herbs and rockery. Many different local events take place at this park (Family festival, Medieval Market etc.) and you will find as well healthy parks, playgrounds and pétanque areas.
Just 10 kilometers from Tres Cantos you will find the village of Colmenar Viejo, located in the Regional Park of the Cuenca Alta del Manzanares. Since ancient times it has been the settlement of populations because of its strategic location on the north-south road in the Iberian Peninsula.

It is a Gothic church with an impressive bell tower and a magnificent Renaissance-style altarpiece, made between 1563 and 1579.
It is located about five kilometers from the city center, on the road that leads to Guadalix de la Sierra. It houses the statue of Our Lady of Remedios, patron saint of Colmenar Viejo. The present building dates from the fourteenth century, with an extension of the seventeenth century when it was rebuilt again. During the refurbishment in 1969 had appeared archaeological rests from the Visigoths in the chapel and surroundings.
This picturesque village is located in the northern part of Madrid province, just a few kilometers from Tres Cantos. It is situated in the Regional Park of the Cuenca Alta del Manzanares, on a hillside under Najarra peak, a mountain of 2.119m above the sea level.
