Camino de Santiago

Tres Cantos has the privilege of being the starting point for the first stage of the Camino de Santiago, which starts at the railway station to avoid the hustle and bustle of the city.

If you choose to start the Camino de Santiago in Tres Cantos, you will follow a beautiful trail surrounded by holm oaks and lush vegetation that will take you through Segovia, Coca, Valladolid and Medina de Rioseco.

Tres Cantos Central Park

The central park is the main green space in Tres Cantos, and taking a stroll among the leafy trees is an activity that we highly recommend during your stay in Tres Cantos.

The central park has a large artificial lake, popularly known as the “Swan Lake”, which is home to several species of fish, and it is where the traditional fireworks of the San Juan celebrations take place.

One of the main attractions is the thematic garden, where there are twelve different types of gardens: rose gardens, palm groves, herbaceous gardens, climbing gardens, bamboo gardens, conifer gardens, aromatic gardens and rock gardens. The Plaza de la Familia is also located in this large park and is the venue for various municipal events (Family Festival, Medieval Market, etc.). In the vicinity of this square there is also an outdoor fitness area, children’s area and pétanque facilities.

Colmenar Viejo

Just 10 kilometres from Tres Cantos is the town of Colmenar Viejo, in the Cuenca Alta del Manzanares Regional Park. It has been inhabited since ancient times due to its strategic location on the north-south route of the Iberian Peninsula.

If you decide to visit this city, we recommend that you visit the following monuments:

Basilica of the Assumption of Our Lady

The Basilica of the Assumption in Colmenar Viejo is a Gothic temple with an impressive bell tower and a magnificent Renaissance altarpiece, built between 1563 and 1579.

Los Remedios Hermitage

Located about five kilometres from the city centre, on the road to Guadalix de la Sierra. It houses the image of Nuestra Señora de los Remedios, the patron saint of Colmenar Viejo. The current building dates from the 14th century, with a 17th-century extension that was renovated in the following century, and several annexes built in 1969. It was during the later works that archaeological remains of Visigothic origin were discovered on the grounds of the hermitage and in the surrounding countryside.

Miraflores de la Sierra

The picturesque village of Miraflores de la Sierra is located in the northern part of the Madrid region, a few kilometres from Tres Cantos. It is situated in the Cuenca Alta del Manzanares Regional Park, on the slopes of La Najarra, a mountain that reaches 2,119 metres. It has a wonderful natural setting that makes it a place not to be missed during your stay in Tres Cantos, where you can enjoy various tourist and cultural activities, such as the San Blas Hermitage, the Fuente del Cura and the Dehesilla.

Manzanares el Real

Manzanares el Real is located in the heart of the Cuenca Alta del Manzanares Regional Park, at the foot of La Pedriza. Entering this municipality in the Sierra Norte is like immersing yourself in nature. The park is included in the World Network of Biosphere Reserves and offers one of the most beautiful landscapes in the Madrid region.

Manzanares el Real also offers a wide range of cultural activities that will delight all visitors. Among our cultural recommendations, don’t miss the Castillo Viejo, the Cañada Real Bridge, or the Ethnological and Archaeological Museum. Do not hesitate to ask for more information at the reception desk at Jardín de Tres Cantos, where you will be able to find out about the location of all these places of cultural interest, as well as the wide range of gastronomic and leisure activities on offer.
